McGaha Wins 300th, Baseball Bisons Defeat Southern Nazarene 3-1

BETHANY, Okla. – Harding senior Noah Chandler had his second career four-hit game, Zac Stewart added three hits and Andrew Fiddler pitched eight strong innings to lead the Bisons to a 3-1 victory over Southern Nazarene on Sunday in Great American Conference action. It was the 300th career victory for Dr. Patrick McGaha as Harding's head coach.

Harding won its third straight and improved to 11-10 overall and 5-5 in GAC games. Southern Nazarene fell to 2-17 overall and 2-8 in conference games. The teams conclude the series Monday with an 11 a.m. doubleheader.

KEY INNINGS
  • After both teams were scoreless through the first four innings, Harding got on the board in the fifth. Stewart led off with an infield single and went to second on Grant Guest's sacrifice. Chandler singled up the middle for his team-leading eighth RBI of the season.
  • Southern Nazarene tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth on Ryan Tucker's RBI double.
  • Harding took the lead for good in the seventh. Chandler led off the inning with a single and moved to second on Alan Copeland's sacrifice. Two batters later, Davis Richardson drove in Chandler with his fifth RBI of the season.
  • Harding tacked on an insurance run in the ninth. Grant Guest reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a wild pitch.

  • Harding improved to 11-2 when it scores first this season.
  • The teams combined to strand 23 runners, 13 for Harding and 10 for Southern Nazarene. Harding was 4-for-19 with runners on base, and Southern Nazarene was 4-for-17. Harding's 13 left on base tied a season high.
