SEARCY – A quartet of Harding football players was honored Tuesday by the National Football Foundation. Bison seniors Hayden Cruce, Ryan Ferrell, Julian Firman and Jake Greer were inducted into the 2009 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field.
Cruce, a native of Little Rock, Ark., started 10 games for Harding last season at center. He is currently working on his master's degree at Harding after earning his bachelor's in marketing.
Ferrell, who hails from Houston, Texas, received his degree from Harding in marketing and is currently enrolled in the school's MBA program. As a senior, Ferrell set a school record and led all of NCAA Division II by kicking 18 field goals.
A native of Lawton, Okla., Firman made 30 receptions for 290 yards and two touchdowns. Firman is an exercise science major and youth and family ministry minor.
Greer started all 11 games on the offensive line for the Bisons in 2008. A native of White Hall, Ark., Greer is an exercise science major and Bible and religion minor.
