GSC Women's Tennis All-Decade Team
SEARCY – In the two years they played together, former Harding women's tennis greats Alicia Williams and Karina Gomes formed a formidable one-two punch for the Lady Bisons. Thursday the duo landed on the Gulf South Conference Women's Tennis All-Decade Team.
A native of Greenville, Miss., Williams was a four-time 1st Team All-GSC honoree. She was the 2006 Freshman of the Year and 2009 Player of the Year. Williams set the Harding record for wins at No. 1 singles with a staggering mark of 70-17 in her career. She was 69-25 in doubles play.
Gomes, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, captured three All-GSC honors in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was the 2005 Freshman of the Year. She went 72-19 in her singles career at Harding and 68-32 in doubles. In 2006-07, Gomes posted a 21-2 singles record, Harding's all-time best single season record.
