Dramatic Comeback Gives Bison Soccer a 3-3 Tie at OBU

Wilson Scores Game-Tying Goal in 83rd Minute

ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – Trailing 3-0 with less than 30 minutes remaining in the game, the Harding men’s soccer team tallied three late goals to earn a 3-3 tie with Ouachita Baptist, Friday in Gulf South Conference soccer action. The teams played two scoreless 10-minute overtime periods following regulation.
 
Harding (3-10-1, 1-4-1) cut the lead to 3-1 in the 65th minute when Ben Faris stole the ball in the defensive end and scored his seventh goal of the season.
 
Sophomore Chris Jordan cut the lead to a single goal when he scored his first collegiate goal in the 79th minute. Colby Wilson’s header in the 83rd minute knotted the game at 3-3.
 
Jordan had a chance to give the Bisons the win in regulation, but his shot in the 87th minute hit the crossbar. Faris also hit the crossbar with a shot in the second overtime period.
 
The game was marred by 67 fouls, four yellow cards, and two red cards—one against OBU’s Robert Wilson and one against Harding’s Odracir Guzman.
 
Ouachita Baptist (4-8-1, 1-4-1) took their early lead on a pair of goals from Phillip Presley in the first half. Just after the break, David Cook gave OBU a 3-0 lead with his second of the season.
 
Harding returns to action Sunday against Christian Brothers in Memphis.
