Box Score

MEMPHIS, TENN. – Harding took advantage of two Christian Brothers miscues Sunday and defeated the Lady Bucs 2-0 in women’s Gulf South Conference soccer action. The shutout was the third for the Lady Bisons in 2005.

The win improved Harding’s record to 8-8-1 overall and 5-4-0 in GSC action and kept the squad’s improbable conference tournament hopes alive. The Lady Bisons play their final game of the regular season on Friday at Central Arkansas. With a win in that game, Harding still needs UCA to lose to North Alabama on Sunday and West Georgia to lose to both West Florida and Ouachita Baptist to make the tournament.

Christian Brothers fell to 2-10-2 overall and 1-8-0 in the GSC. It was CBU’s first loss in four meetings against Harding in Memphis. The Lady Bucs had outscored Harding 17-2 in three previous home games.

Harding took an early 1-0 lead when Hilary Rosenbaum made a steal in the defensive end and netted her sixth goal of the season only 1:26 into the game.

Lady Bison goal keeper kept Christian Brothers off the scoreboard in the first half, making five saves. She added two more in the second half and collected her 11th career shutout and school-record breaking 22nd career victory.

A failed clear in the Christian Brothers end gave Memphis native Elyssa Currie an opening that she converted into her third goal of the season. The strike came in the 55th minute and sealed the win.

Harding and Central Arkansas begin at noon Friday in Conway.
