Box Score CONWAY, ARK. - Central Arkansas scored a pair of goals less than eight minutes apart in the second half to defeat Harding 2-0 in Gulf South Conference women's soccer action Friday. It was the final match of the season for the Lady Bisons.
Harding completed its season with an 8-9-1 overall record and a 5-5-0 mark in conference play. UCA improved to 11-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the GSC. The Sugar Bears win guaranteed them a spot in the GSC Tournament.
Despite being outshot 16-6 in the first half, Harding went into the break tied 0-0. UCA's offensive attack continued in the second period and finally resulted in a goal in the 71st minute. Kati Tamahaha's shot glanced off the left post and into the net with an assist from Brandie Smith. It was Tamahaha's ninth goal of the season. Lauren King then scored her 11th goal of the season on a header in the 78th minute.
UCA finished the game with 34 shots to Harding's nine. Lady Bison goalkeeper Cheryl Dovichak recorded 11 saves in the game.
Friday's game was the final collegiate soccer game for three Harding seniors--Hilary Rosenbaum, Elizabeth Jones, and Julie Akins. Rosenbaum finishes her career as the Lady Bisons' sixth-leading goal scorer with 22 career goals.
