BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lady Bisons fit in a victory today with room to spare as they dropped Lyon, 89-60. Trailing only four points at the half, the Pipers lost steam and gave up nine three-pointers in the second half, five of which came from Harding’s Jasmine McClindon in a less than four-minute span. Harding improved to 7-2 while the Pipers dropped to 4-6. McClindon’s 22 points led the team to one of its best games of shooting all season. The Lady Bisons averaged 47.1 percent from the field, 93.3 percent from the charity stripe and a stellar 50 percent from behind the arc.
Harding capitalized on Lyon’s mistakes with 14 points off turnovers. The Lady Bisons’ bench also stepped up with 39 combined points. Kinsey Tucker followed up McClindon with 21 points and Chelsea Simpson had a double-double with 10 points and as many rebounds. Laura Broadwater worked both ends of the court with seven assists, nine points and two steals. Harding had only nine turnovers and grabbed 42 rebounds while the Pipers pulled down only 34.
Meribeth Waters led Lyon with 18 points and seven rebounds. Nikki Baker and Prescilla Mathis were right behind her with 17 and 16 points respectively. The team shot 34.5 percent from the field and only 60 percent from the free throw line.
The Lady Bisons return to action on Mon., Jan. 2 in Rolla, Mo., at 5:30 p.m. Harding lost to Missouri-Rolla earlier this season with an 84-76 score.
