SEARCY – Brandon Sims recorded Harding’s first double-double of the season with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bisons to a 93-76 win over Philander Smith, Friday at the Rhodes Field House. It was Harding’s 13th straight win over the Panthers and the 15th time in 22 meetings that the Bisons scored 90 points or more against Philander Smith.
Harding (4-1) fell behind 25-10 midway through the first half but went on a 19-2 run to take the lead 29-27. The Bisons led 37-34 at half and extended the lead to as many as 21 in the second half.
Sims was one of four Bisons in double figure scoring. He made 9-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. His 12 rebounds were the most by a Harding player this season.
Philander Smith (2-8) got 20 points from guard Dalun Smith and 10 points and 11 rebounds from Ronnie Graham.
Harding returns to the Rhodes Field House for the third game of a five-game homestand Saturday night at 8 p.m. against North Alabama.
