Southern Arkansas Downs Harding, 76-65

MAGNOLIA, ARK. – Southern Arkansas outscored Harding 27-12 at the foul line and defeated the Bisons 76-65 in Gulf South Conference action at the Rhodes Field House on Thursday.
 
Southern Arkansas (5-10, 2-2) won its second straight conference game and snapped a six-game losing streak to the Harding (9-4, 1-2).
 
The Muleriders led throughout the game and hit 27-of-35 (77%) from the foul line. The Bisons hit 12-of-19 from the stripe.
 
Lonnie Smith led Harding with 22 points, knocking down 4-of-10 from three-point range. Leon Stone paced Southern Arkansas with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Harding trimmed a 13-point second half deficit to two points midway through the second half, but a three-pointer by Reggie Tims extended the Muleriders’ lead. Harding got no closer the rest of the way.
 
Southern Arknasas entered the game ranked last in the conference in rebounding but had a 46-35 advantage over Harding.
 
The Bisons will look for their second win in GSC play on Monday against Central Arkansas at the Rhodes Field House.
