Box Score MAGNOLIA, ARK. – Harding sophomore Jacque Fredendall scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting, but it was not enough as the Lady Bisons fell 91-84 in overtime to Southern Arkansas, Thursday at the Watson Athletic Center.
Harding (8-6, 0-3 Gulf South Conference) led by as many as 11 points with 8:54 left in the game, but Southern Arkansas’ relentless work on the offensive boards allowed the Lady Riders to tie the game on a layup by Kiki Junior with 15 seconds remaining. Southern Arkansas (8-7, 3-1) had 18 offensive rebounds in the second half that led to 16 second-chance points.
Fredendall had 18 of her points in the second half and in overtime. Freshman Catherine McMenamy added 15 points and 16 rebounds, a career high and the most by a Lady Bison this season. Ashley Dixon dropped in 13 points and Jasmine McClindon had 10.
The Lady Bisons shot 25-of-28 (89%) from the foul line in the game, but had 24 turnovers. SAU hit 29-of-39 (74%) from the stripe.
Southern Arkansas scored the first five points of the overtime period, but Harding cut the lead to 76-75 on a Fredendall jumper with 3:29 left. SAU then scored the next seven points to pull away. The Lady Riders hit 14-of-19 free throws in overtime, outscoring Harding 20-13 in the five minute period.
Junior, a junior guard, led the Lady Riders with 27 points and Latrice Booker added 26 points and 11 rebounds.
Harding returns home to meet Central Arkansas, Monday at 6 p.m. in the Rhodes Field House.
