Box Score
HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Winning on the road is never easy, especially in conference play, but the Harding University women’s soccer team is making the best of life away from Searcy. The Lady Bisons won their second straight Gulf South Conference road game 2-0 over Alabama-Huntsville on Sunday.

Harding is now 4-3-3 overall, its first winning record of the season. The Lady Bisons are 3-1-0 in conference play and in prime position to earn one of four berths in the GSC Tournament. Remarkably, Harding is still undefeated on the road, compiling a 2-0-3 mark.

Freshman Kellie DeAtley, playing in only her fifth game of the season, scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 60th minute on assists from junior Kendyl Washburn and freshman Lindsey Dowdy. It was DeAtley’s second goal in ’06.

Sophomore reserve midfielder Tess Bragg added her first career goal in the 80th minute to seal the victory for the Lady Bisons. Freshman Chelsea Smith had the assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Hornbeck had seven saves in posting her third shutout of the season.

The victory gave Harding six points in the conference standings, two for each win. Only four of the nine teams in the league currently have four points or more.

Harding will play its final game of a three-game road trip Friday at North Alabama in Florence.
