Second Half Flurry Leads Hannibal-LaGrange over Harding University

SEARCY – Hannibal-LaGrange forward Kevin Zimmerman scored twice and added two assists, all in the second half, to lead the Trojans to a 4-1 non-conference men’s soccer victory over Harding, Friday night at First Security Stadium.
 
Hannibal-LaGrange (12-3) is an NAIA school located in Hannibal, Mo. It was the first meeting on the soccer field between the two schools.
 
Harding (1-12) took an early lead on Colby Wilson’s put-back of a Chase Fowler shot. It was Wilson’s second goal of the season and sixth of his career. The Bisons took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
Zimmerman, a freshman from Cancun, Mexico, evened the score on a blast from just outside the box in the 49th minute. He then assisted on goals by J.P. Wunder in the 71st minute and Estevao Franco in the 87th minute. With just under two minutes remaining, Zimmerman headed in his second goal on an assist from Wunder.
 
Harding goalkeeper Ryan Hamilton tied a season high with nine saves. Austin McDowell had six for Hannibal-LaGrange.
 
The teams each had seven shots at halftime, but the Trojans outshot the Bisons 16-6 in the second half.
 
Harding resumes Gulf South Conference action Sunday against Christian Brothers in Memphis.
