Box Score MEMPHIS, TENN. - Freshman Lindsey Dowdy and junior Kendyl Washburn each scored goals and the Harding women's soccer team collected its fifth straight shutout as the Lady Bisons defeated Christian Brothers, 2-0 Sunday. Harding freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Hornbeck has not allowed a goal in her last 495 minutes of action.
Harding improved to 8-3-3 overall and 6-1-0 in conference play, clinching at least a tie for second place in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Bisons have won six straight games and are unbeaten at 5-0-3 on the road this season. Christian Brothers (6-8-0, 1-4-0) managed only 10 shots in the game.
Dowdy's goal came in the 34th minute and was her third of the season and first career game-winner. Junior forward Lynsey Clissold had the assist, her team-leading fifth of the season.
Harding led 1-0 at halftime.
Washburn intercepted a pass in the Christian Brothers end and chipped the ball over Lady Buc keeper Sarah Plummer to give Harding a two-goal advantage in the 83rd minute. The goal was Washburn's seventh of the season and 31st of her career, two behind career leader Lori Boren.
Harding set a new school record with its fifth consecutive shutout. It last had four straight shutouts in 2003. The Lady Bisons' six-game winning streak is the second longest in program history. The 2004 squad won eight straight en route to its berth in the NCAA Tournament.
