Bison Soccer Ties GSC Mark in Senior Night Victory

SEARCY – Harding University forward Brock Williams scored two goals and added three assists to lead the Bisons to a 6-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist in men’s soccer action on Senior Night. It was the season finale for both teams.
 
Harding’s six goals tied a school record for goals in a Gulf South Conference game. The Bisons also defeated Delta State 6-1 in 2004.
 
Harding (3-13-0, 1-5-0) opened its season with 11 consecutive losses but finished strong with three wins in its final five games.
 
Ouachita Baptist (4-9-0, 1-5-0) had never allowed more than three goals to Harding in six previous meetings.
 
Williams, likely playing his final game as a Bison, assisted on Jedda Bragg’s goal in the 17th minute. Twenty minutes later, he spearheaded Harding’s greatest offensive explosion of the season. Williams scored his 11th goal of the season in the 37th minute, assisted by Steve Hedeman. A minute later, Williams assisted on Carter Truax’s goal. Then 48 seconds later, Williams scored again to put the Bisons ahead 4-0 at halftime.
 
Chris Jordan and senior David Mainprize scored second half goals for Harding. Williams, along with Mainprize, assisted on Jordan’s goal in the 65th minute. Jordan had the assist on Mainprize’s goal in the 68th minute.
 
Ouachita Baptist’s Jarod Townsend scored in the 66th minute, assisted by Kyle Sun.
 
Honored in a postgame ceremony were seniors Williams, Mainprize, and Daniel Graves. Williams completed his career ranked second at Harding in career goals (20) and points (53) and third in career assists (13). His 12 goals in 2006 ranks fourth in an HU single season.
