SEARCY – Ouachita Baptist scored the first goal allowed by Harding in over 500 minutes and went on to defeat the Lady Bisons 3-1 Friday on Senior Night in Searcy. The loss snapped the Lady Bisons’ six-game winning streak.

The game decided the seeding for the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tournament. With the victory Ouachita Baptist (11-4-0, 6-2-0) earns the second seed in the four-team tournament. Harding (8-4-3, 6-2-0) will be the third seed and meet the Tigers again in the first round Friday, Oct. 27 in Pensacola, Fla.

Ouachita Baptist’s Lauren Pierce ended that streak at 518 minutes with a goal in the 23rd minute. Bethany Ebbert made it 2-0 just over six minutes later.

Ouachita Baptist continued to press the action in the second half and netted a goal from Rachel Folk in the 58th minute.

A steal in the defensive end led to Harding’s lone goal. Minnie Guzman collected the ball at the top of the box and fired home her fourth goal of the season in the 62nd minute.

Harding honored five seniors--Sarah Williamson, Laura Bullington, Leslie Pierce, Emily Currie, and Carrie Piselli--in a ceremony prior to the game.
