FLORENCE -- Harding scored three goals in the first 14 minutes of the game and North Alabama never recovered as the Lions came out on the short end of a 4-0 score to the Lady Bisons Friday night at North Florence Park.
The victory kept Harding (5-3-3, 4-1-0 GSC) in second place in the Gulf South Conference standings, as the squad remained undefeated on the road in 2006 at 3-0-3. It was the Lady Bison's fourth straight win over North Alabama.
Just 36 seconds into the game, Harding's Kellie DeAtley attempted a cross that bounced off the left inside post and the top post before being kicked away. DeAtley was awarded a goal on the kick, putting Harding on top 1-0. It was DeAtley's third goal of the season and the earliest goal ever scored by a Lady Bison. The previous record was held by Kendyl Washburn, who scored 62 seconds into Harding's 4-0 win over Freed-Hardeman in 2004.
At the 9:04 mark, Washburn completed a run down the left side by taking a pass from Chelsea Smith and putting it past UNA keeper Mally Cash for a 2-0 advantage. The goal was Wasburn's team-leading sixth of the season and the 30th of her career, moving her past Heather Gray (1998-2001) for second all-time at Harding.
In the 14th minute, freshman Minnie Guzman scored off an assist from Lyndsey Clissold, and the Lady Bisons got their last goal of the half at the 35:03 mark as Tess Bragg scored. Guzman's goal was her second of the season, and Bragg's was her second in the last two games.
North Alabama (4-7-1, 1-4-0 GSC) finished with 15 shots, led by Alsion Woodman with eight. Harding's Chelsea Hornbeck had a career-high eight saves in posting her fourth shutout of the season. UNA's Cash finished with five saves.
The last time Harding had four different players score goals in a game was in a 9-0 win over Delta State on Oct. 9, 2005.
Harding will look to continue its winning streak, Sunday in Searcy against West Georgia. The Wolves were 2-1 winners over Ouachita Baptist on Friday.
