ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding suffered its first loss of the season Saturday night at the OBU Tournament against West Alabama, 85-78. West Alabama had two players with 20 or more points in the victory over the Lady Bisons. Harding dropped to 1-1.
The Lady Bisons struggled from three-point range hitting only 22.2 percent (8-36) but hit 14-of-16 from the free throw line. Catherine McMenamy led Harding with 17 points and Chelsea McCarty added 16. Freshman Kaitlin May led the team with 11 rebounds, pulling down two offensive and nine defensive boards. As a team, the Lady Bisons out-rebounded the Lady Tigers 39-36.
West Alabama’s Jessica Thompson scored a game-high 27 points, connecting on seven three-pointers. Wennica Foster followed Thompson with 20 points. As a team, the Lady Tigers shot 54.1 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range and went 4 for 4 from the free throw line.
The Lady Bisons take on Alabama-Huntsville on the road on Friday, November 25 at 1:30 p.m., and then open at home against Williams Baptist on Monday, November 27 at 5:30 p.m.
