FLORENCE, Ala. – The Lady Bisons advance to the Gulf South Conference Semi-finals after a victory over West Georgia in the first round Friday night on the campus of North Alabama. Harding defeated the Braves, 3-1 with game scores of 30-18, 30-28, 16-30, 30-21. Harding improved its record to 23-8 and the Braves ended their season, 16-17 overall.
Freshman Manuela Nesheva took over for the Lady Bisons with 20 kills, a .359 hitting percentage and four service aces. Katelin Parks led the team with 22 digs while Leah Tepe had 50 of the team’s 55 assists. As a team, Harding hit .272 with 62 kills and 74 digs. The Lady Bisons totaled nine blocks to West Georgia’s 10.
West Georgia’s Juliana da Silva hit .500 leading the Braves with 15 kills. Carolin Schoeneck followed Silva with 12 kills and led with 13 digs. The Braves hit .230 and totaled 60 digs.
With the win, the Lady Bisons move on to the Semi-finals where they will meet West Florida for the first time this season. UWF is 19-13 on the season and was the second GSC-East going in to the Tournament.
