Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Lady Bisons pushed North Alabama into overtime but could not keep up the momentum and dropped their second loss of the season to the Lions, 77-72. North Alabama ended Harding’s seven-game winning streak and improved its record to 6-7 while the Lady Bisons dropped to 8-2 overall.
The overtime contest was the fourth between the two teams in their eight-game all-time series. Harding’s Jasmine McClindon had her second 20+ point performance in as many games with a season-high 23 points against the Lions. Harding turned the ball over 23 times and gave the Lions 33 chances at the free throw line (25-33) but shot only 6-of-10 from the free throw line itself.
The Lady Bisons were up by two points with 15 seconds left in the game when a Harding foul sent North Alabama’s Jameica York to the free throw line where she sank both shots sending the game into overtime, 63-63. The Lions barreled through 14 points in the overtime period while the Lady Bisons scored only nine.
North Alabama standout Amber Rutherford had a double-double with a game-high 21 rebounds as well as 11 points. York led the Lions in scoring with 21 points. Two Lady Bisons joined McClindon with double-digit scoring: Kelsea Lyda had 14 points and Stacey Owens scored 10.
Harding will face the host team, West Florida, tomorrow (Dec. 30) at 3:00 p.m. in Pensacola, Fla.
