Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Lady Bisons moved back to the winning track Saturday against West Florida in the UWF Tournament. Harding defeated the Lady Argos 71-47 and improved its record to 9-2 while the Lady Argos dropped to 7-7 overall. Harding’s Jasmine McClindon had her third straight 20+ point game with 23 against West Florida.
Harding began with a great start and a nine point lead within the first six minutes of the game but allowed the Lady Argos to battle back and tie the game. The lead changed eight times in the first half with a score of 31-29 to Harding’s advantage at the break.
The Lady Bisons opened the second half with a 27-6 run on West Florida with the Lady Argos trailing by more than 14 points for the rest of the game. Harding rallied behind McClindon with stellar shooting from the field and only 14 turnovers. West Florida out-rebounded the Lady Bisons 44-to-43 but turned the ball over 21 times and shot only 27.1 percent (16-for-59) from the field and 15.8 percent (3-for-19) from three point range.
With only one other Lady Bisons with double-digit scoring (Kelsea Lyda with 12 points), Harding’s points were spread throughout the team. Chelsea McCarty and Jacque Fredendall added nine rebounds each for Harding. Tara Russ led the Lady Argos with 13 rebounds and points.
Harding will begin Gulf South Conference competition on January 6, 2007 at Arkansas-Monticello. The game is set for 4:00 p.m.
