ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The Harding men’s tennis team, ranked seventh in the NCAA II South Region, split two matches played Saturday at the Heflin Indoor Tennis Center.
The Bisons opened the day with a 7-2 victory over Southwest Baptist, the ninth-ranked team in the NCAA II North Central Region. Harding won all three doubles matches and picked up four singles victories, including three-set wins by
Andrew Giron at #1 and
Richard Rios at #4.
Harding (5-2) then fell 9-0 to Ouachita Baptist, ranked second in the South Region and third nationally. All three doubles matches ended with identical 8-3 scores. The Bisons won only one set in the singles matches. Sophomore
Ethan Bryant took the first set at #4 singles over Vasek Stverka in a tie-breaker but dropped the next two sets.
The Bisons take on Christian Brothers on Tuesday in Memphis.
