Arkansas Tech Squeaks Past Lady Bisons, 58-55

SEARCY – Arkansas Tech’s Christy Mahan hit a three-pointer with 46 seconds left to give the Golden Suns the lead for good as Tech defeated Harding 58-55 on Thursday at the Rhodes Field House. It was the final home game in the career of Michelle Freeman, the Lady Bisons’ lone senior.

Harding (12-14, 4-11 Gulf South Conference) had only one player with double figures in points. Junior forward Chelsea Simpson made 6-of-8 from the field and finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Three other Lady Bisons had nine points including freshman Catherine McMenamy who added a team-high nine rebounds.

Mahan and Melanie Pierce each had 10 points for Arkansas Tech (14-12, 6-9).

The Lady Bisons close out the 2006 season Saturday at 11^th-ranked Henderson State. Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
