ARKADELPHIA, ARK. - Henderson State had four players with 10 or more points and committed only four turnovers in the game as the Lady Reddies defeated Harding 86-67 in the season finale for the Lady Bisons at the Duke Wells Center. With the victory, Henderson State clinched the Gulf South Conference West Division regular season championship. They will be the No. 1 seed from the West in next week's GSC Tournament in Tupelo, Miss.
Harding (12-15, 4-12) could not overcome 15 first half turnovers and poor shooting from long range. The Lady Bisons outscored the Lady Reddies 44-43 in the second half, but could not overcome a 20-point halftime deficit. Harding missed its first 15 three-point attempts and finished the game only 2-of-22 from beyond the arc.
Henderson State (23-3, 13-2) defeated Harding for the eighth straight time and won their fifth straight overall. Angelique Baulding and Shondra Bush led the Lady Reddies with 14 points each.
Junior Jasmine McClindon scored 14 to lead Harding. Chelsea Simpson collected her fifth double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Catherine McMenamy also had 12 for the Lady Bisons. Ashley Dixon had both Harding three-pointers and Kinsey Tucker had all five of the Lady Bison assists.
The Lady Bisons outrebounded the Lady Reddies 48-31.
