SEARCY – Junior guard Jasmine McClindon scored 32 of her 34 points in the second half to lead Harding to a 75-64 win over Arkansas-Monticello, Monday night at the Rhodes Field House. The win snapped an 11-game Gulf South Conference losing streak dating back to last season.
Harding (9-12, 1-9 GSC) hit all four of its free throws in the first half, but connected on 22-of-27 in the second half to overcome a six-point halftime deficit.
In the second half, McClindon made 10-of-11 field goals, including 4-of-4 three-pointers. She made 8-of-11 from the foul line. Her 32 points are a school record for a single half. McClindon fell just two points short of equaling UAM’s second half total of 34 points. Harding scored 51 points and shot 60% from the field after the break.
Arkansas-Monticello (10-11, 5-6) made only nine free throws in the game and committed 24 turnovers.
Harding sophomore Kinsey Tucker was one of three other Lady Bisons to score in double figures. She also added team highs with six assists and four steals. Freshman Catherine McMenamy added 13 points and Chelsea Simpson scored 10.
UAM guard TeAundra Harden led four Cotton Blossoms in double digits with 15 points.
Arkansas-Monticello built a 30-24 lead at the half, going on a 17-0 run over eight minutes before Simpson hit a layup for the Lady Bisons with 4:42 left in the first half.
Harding hosts its second straight home game Thursday, taking on Southern Arkansas. The Lady Riders were 76-67 winners over nationally ranked Henderson State on Monday.
