HU Baseball Falls to UAM, 16-4

SEARCY – Arkansas-Monticello turned 12 hits and 11 walks into a 16-4 victory over Harding in non-conference baseball action Tuesday at Jerry Moore Field. The game ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
 
Harding (3-1) took a 4-3 advantage after three innings, but UAM (7-0) scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good.
 
Junior left-hander Jordan Blake (0-1) took the loss for the Bisons in his first career start. He allowed nine runs (eight earned) over 3.0 innings of work.
 
John Carroll started for the Boll Weevils and picked up the win, pitching 4.0 innings and yielding four runs (three earned) on six hits.
 
Nick Tillsley, Ken Merrill, and Cody Ellis each drove in three runs for UAM. Ellis hit the game’s only home run, a two-run shot in the sixth off Bison reliever Trevor Holbert.
 
Harding had seven hits, led by Zach Fisher and Clint Williams with two each.
 
The Bisons continue their eight-game homestand to open the season on Friday against Southwest Baptist. The teams play a single game Friday beginning at 3 p.m. and twice Saturday beginning at noon.
