Lady Bisons Win Second Straight; Down SAU, 86-78

SEARCY – Harding’s Jasmine McClindon and Catherine McMenamy each scored 25 points to lead the Lady Bisons to an 86-78 victory over Southern Arkansas on Thursday at the Rhodes Field House.
 
Harding (10-12, 2-9 Gulf South Conference) has won its last two conference games after opening league play with nine straight defeats.
 
Southern Arkansas (12-11, 7-5 GSC) had four players in double figures, led by Brooke Grigsby with 16 points.
 
The Lady Bisons used a 15-0 run to build a 25-point second half lead at 75-50. The Lady Riders came back with a 19-2 run of their own to close to within eight, but Harding hit 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch maintain its lead. The Lady Bisons went the final 7:38 without a field goal.
 
Harding led 53-42 at halftime. The Lady Bisons’ 53 points were the most points ever scored in one half of a Gulf South Conference game.
 
The Lady Bisons won the rebounding battle 44-27. Harding’s Michelle Freeman and Jacque Fredendall led all players with eight each.
 
McClindon, who scored 32 points in the second half of Harding’s win over Arkansas-Monticello on Monday, had 17 points in the first half against Southern Arkansas. She finished the game shooting 7-of-14 from the field, hitting 5-of-10 three-pointers.
 
McMenamy was 7-of-11 from the field and connected on all four of her three-point attempts. The freshman was also 7-of-8 from the line and had six rebounds.
 
Harding looks to continue its winning streak Monday at Central Arkansas.
