MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Harding used the last few innings of Wednesday's game to overcome Crichton for a 7-6 win at Sowell Field. The Bisons remained scoreless through five innings holding the Comets to one run. Both teams hit their stride in the remaining innings allowing for the Bisons to take a three run lead in the eighth. The Comets answered back with two in the bottom of the inning but could not keep the rally going lifting the Bisons to an 11-14 overall record.
Seven Bisons made appearances on the mound. Trevor Holbert started the game, pitching three innings and giving up only one run. Jeff Davis was Harding's fourth reliever and captured the win (2-2) with no hits or runs in 1.2 innings of work. Brian McCrackin earned the save, his first this season, and pitched the last inning for Harding.
Crichton scored only three earned runs but took advantage of Harding's four errors. The Comets made only one fielding error and had four hits.
The Bisons had nine hits including doubles by Bo Whitaker and Blake Robertson. Whitaker also drove in a team high two RBI. Adam Darby led the team with two hits.
Joe Melton led the way for the Comets with two hits and two runs. Chad Greenlee took the loss for Crichton pitching two innings and giving up three runs.
Harding is back to GSC action this weekend with a three-game series at Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.
