Harding Drops Last Game of Series at SAU, 7-12

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Bison baseball team dropped the last game of the series versus Southern Arkansas, 7-12 Sunday at Mulerider Field. Despite having 14 hits in the game, Harding (12-16, 2-7 GSC) allowed five unearned runs that ended up deciding the game. Southern Arkansas improved to 18-12 overall and 5-6 in Gulf South Conference play.

Harding designated hitter Devin Watts led the team with four hits while teammates J.D. Glenn and Chase Chandler batted in two runs each. Catcher Ryan Moody hit a solo homerun in the third inning bringing Harding's season homerun total to three.

Kenny Barnett started on the mound for the Bisons and pitched four effective innings but wavered in the fifth, allowing three earned runs. Barnett (3-2) took the loss for the Bisons. Jeff Davis came in for 3.2 innings of relief and allowed only two earned runs.

Tim Woodruff pitched the first five innings for the Muleriders and took the win. Woodruff (4-0) struck out five Harding batters and gave up four earned runs.

The Bisons will continue on the road Tuesday for a doubleheader at Williams Baptist beginning at 1:00 p.m.
