Two Harding Track Athletes Receive Regional Awards

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named its regional award winners for the 2006 indoor season. Harding's Kalina Szteyn and Artur Kern were awarded with the women's and men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the South Region, respectively.

Kalina Szteyn of Harding is the NCAA Division II Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the South Region. Szteyn will represent Harding at this weekend’s Division II nationals in the 5,000 meters, where she is seeded 10^th with a best of 17:10.38.

Artur Kern of Harding is the NCAA Division II Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the South Region. The Harding sophomore qualified for the Division II nationals in the mile (4:08.50 best) and 5,000 (14:32.92).
