BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Harding baseball team let the Lyon Scots pull away in the bottom of the first inning and could not recover, dropping the first game, 18-5. Ten hits in the second game led to a different outcome with the Bisons on top, 11-8. Harding improved to 18-22 while the Scots went to 26-16 overall.
Harding increased its homerun count to 10 today with J.D. Glenn, Devin Watts and Clay Kiihnl each hitting their first on the season. Chase Chandler took advantage of two hits driving in a team-high four runs on the day.
Bison pitcher Trevor Holbert started game one and took the loss. Holbert was relieved by Cullen DeHart, Michael Skinner and Aaron Sullivan. Nathan Baker pitched a complete game for the Scots and took the win with five strikouts.
Harding starter Casey Benincosa pitched 4.2 innings in game two and earned the win over the Scots. Brian McCrackin threw 2.1 innings in relief and earned the save. Matt Bell took the loss for Lyon.
The Scots were led by Sean Coker with five hits and 10 RBI on the day including a grand slam in the first game.
The Bisons return to conference action on Friday and Saturday (April 14-15) at Arkansas-Monticello.
