SEARCY – Harding needed to win two of the final three singles matches played Tuesday against 26th-ranked Delta State, but came up one match short, falling 5-4 to the Statesmen at the Harding Tennis Complex.
The Bisons, ranked No. 7 in the NCAA II South Region, completed their regular season with a 15-6 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the Gulf South Conference West Division. Harding will have the No. 3 seed from the West and will likely take on West Florida, the fourth-ranked team in NCAA II, in the first round of the conference tournament.
Harding won two of the three doubles matches against Delta State, gaining victories at No. 1 and No. 2. The Statesmen came back to win four of the six singles matches. Bison No. 2 singles player Ryan Roberts won his ninth straight singles match with a straight sets victory. Richard Rios also won at No. 4 for Harding.
