SEARCY – Losses in all three doubles matches doomed the Harding women’s tennis team Tuesday as it fell to Delta State 6-3 in the final match of the 2006 regular season. The Lady Bisons had leads in all three matches.
Harding responded with three wins in singles. Freshman Alicia Williams was impressive at No. 1, winning easily over DSU’s Paula Uchida. Milena Chisaca also won at No. 2, running her streak of consecutive wins to 10. Catherine Carui needed three sets to defeat Milena Araujo at No. 4 to collect her 50th career singles win.
The Lady Bisons finished the regular season with a 20-5 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the Gulf South Conference. Harding has the No. 3 seed in the West Division and will take on 14th-ranked Valdosta State in the first round of the GSC Tournament.
