ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – Ouachita Baptist got another solid starting pitching performance Sunday and defeated Harding 7-1 to sweep the three-game Gulf South Conference series at Rab Rogers Field. The Tigers won Saturday’s games 10-9 and 4-1.

The win gave Ouachita Baptist (30-20, 15-5 GSC) its first 30-win baseball season in school history. Harding (19-28, 4-17) was swept for the third time in conference play and has lost six straight overall.

OBU ace Keith Barrett (7-1) pitched all but one out of Sunday’s game, limiting the Bisons to only six hits and one unearned run. He struck out five.

Kenny Barnett (3-5) suffered the loss for the Bisons. He pitched 3.0 innings and gave up six hits and seven runs, only two of which were earned.

A Harding error with two outs in the second inning allowed Ouachita Baptist to score five unearned runs in the frame.

Harding’s lone run came in the third inning. Bo Whitaker reached on an infield single and moved around to third when Barrett’s pickoff attempt sailed wide. Ben Wimberly’s single drove in Whitaker. Zach Fisher had two of Harding’s six hits.

The Bisons and Tigers meet again Tuesday, this time in Searcy. The squads meet in a non-conference game at Jerry Moore Field.
