ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – Harding junior Milena Chisaca easily collected her 50th career singles victory Thursday as the Lady Bisons swept Ouachita Baptist 9-0 in Gulf South Conference women’s tennis action.
The victory gives the Lady Bisons a 19-4 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the GSC. Harding officially qualified for the GSC Tournament with the win. Ouachita Baptist fell to 2-17 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Chisaca, a native of Chapineio, Columbia, is the 13th Lady Bison to win 50 career singles matches. Teammate Catherine Carui should be next. Carui has 48 career singles wins.
Ouachita Baptist had only five healthy players to compete and forfeited both No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles before the match started.
Chisaca and Alicia Williams won for the ninth time in their last 10 matches, blanking Christy Gatzki and Whitney Noechel 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Carui and Katrina Gomes improved to 16-3 as a pair with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Gomes, Chisaca, and Carui each won their singles matches without losing a game. Williams (No. 1) and Margareta Dujmovic (No. 5) both won by scores of 6-2, 6-1.
Harding, currently in third place in the GSC West, meets Henderson State, currently in fourth, Friday in Arkadelphia at 4 p.m.
