Harding Splits with Christian Brothers

SEARCY, Ark. – Harding third baseman Chase Chandler started a rally with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning that would ultimately win game one of the doubleheader versus Christian Brothers, 2-1. Devin Watts drove in Jon David Glenn for Harding’s only other run on the day. The Buccaneers claimed the second game, 2-0. The Bisons improved to 17-20 overall and 3-11 in Gulf South Conference competition while Christian Brothers moved to 20-13 and 9-8 in conference play.
 
Harding pitcher Jeff Davis (3-3) earned the win in the first game with Mike Davis capturing the save, his second on the year. J. Davis pitched 7.2 innings and struck out three batters. Charlie Soukup (4-3) took the loss for the Buccaneers for 6.0 innings of work. Christian Brothers came away with 11 hits in game one and the Bisons had six. Both teams had one error.
 
Rightfielder Devin Watts went 4-for-7 on the day with an RBI. J.D. Glen and Ryan Moody added two hits each in the doubleheader.
 
Christian Brothers first baseman Blake Christian drove in both runs in game two with a single to left field. Kenny Ellis pitched a complete game for the Buccaneers with four strikouts. Justin Phillips (4-2) started on the mound for the Bisons and took the loss with 5.2 innings of work. Mike Davis pitched to six batters in relief for Harding. The Bucs had six hits in game two while Harding had five.
 
Harding and Christian Brothers will face off tomorrow (April 9) for the last game of the three-game series at 1:00 p.m. at Jerry Moore Field.
