PENSACOLA, FLA. – Fourth-ranked West Florida opened the 2006 NCAA II Men’s Tennis Tournament with a 5-0 win over Harding on Thursday. The Argos advanced to meet Ouachita Baptist on Friday.
Harding (15-9) was making its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance overall and its fifth in the last six years.
West Florida won all three doubles matches then clinched the match with singles wins at No. 4 and No. 6.
It was the final match in the Harding career of senior Andrew Giron, a three-time all-conference performer for the Bisons.
