ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Lady Bison volleyball team split this weekend at the Henderson State Tournament. Harding defeated Alabama-Huntsville on Sat. morning after losing to No. 9 Central Missouri on Fri. night. The Lady Bisons lost to UCM in four games with scores of 30-21, 29-31, 30-17, 32-30 and won against UAH with scores of 30-11, 30-24, and 30-16. Harding improved to 19-8 overall while Alabama-Huntsville dropped to 8-23. The nationally-ranked Jennies improved to 22-4.
Harding was hurt by Central Missouri's 19 blocks in the Fri. evening match. The Lady Bisons blocked only four of the Jennies' attacks. Harding also hit only .091 for the match and had 52 kills to Central Missouri's 69. Harding was led by Manuela Nesheva with 21 kills and Meredith Rosenbaum with 20 digs.
Jillian Orhman had 15 kills and 11 total blocks for the Jennies.
The Lady Chargers did not give Harding much competition as the Lady Bisons hit .330 to UAH's .019 for the match. Harding also doubled Alabama-Huntsville's blocks with eight. Nesheva led again in number of kills with 17 and Katelin Parks followed with 11 kills. Emily Tate had three service aces for the Lady Bisons who combined for 11 in the match.
UAH had no players with double-digit kills or digs. Jessica Huckabee had a team-high 11 assists.
The Lady Bisons return to conference play next week with a match against Arkansas Tech in Russellville on Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m. Arkansas Tech is also 5-1 in GSC competition.
