MONTICELLO, Ark. – Harding defensive specialist Meredith Rosenbaum led the defense with 33 digs in the Lady Bisons' win over the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms on Tuesday night at the Steelman Fieldhouse. Harding won the match after a tough 34-32 win in the second game. Game one ended at 30-23 and game three ended at 30-22. The Lady Bisons improved to 14-6 overall and 4-0 in Gulf South Conference play while the Cotton Blossoms dropped to 7-12 overall and 0-4 in the GSC.
Harding had trouble on offense hitting only .164 for the match but made it up tying a season high with nine blocks and added 77 digs. Shellie Rummer carried the offense hitting .375 with 10 kills. Manuela Nesheva led the team with 17 kills and added 13 digs. The match was Rosenbaum's fifth 30+ dig match this season, the first in a three-game match. Leah Tepe had 43 assists for the Lady Bisons.
Nicole Ferguson led Arkansas-Monticello with 11 kills and a .346 attack percentage. Ferguson added 12 digs for a double-double along with Vikki Crisco which totaled 35 assists and 21 digs.
The Cotton Blossoms hit .110 for the match with seven blocks and 76 digs. Both teams had five service aces.
The Lady Bisons will play Henderson State on Thurs., Oct. 4 in Arkadelphia at 7 p.m. Henderson State was 3-0 in GSC play before its match against Southern Arkansas tonight (Tues.).
