Lady Bisons Defeat UAM in Three

SEARCY, Ark. – The Lady Bisons had a first-rate performance against Arkansas-Monticello on Thurs. night at the Rhodes Field House. Harding defeated the Cotton Blossoms in three games and hit .379 for the match – its highest percentage since beginning Gulf South Conference action this season. Game scores were 30-14, 30-17, and 30-21. The Lady Bisons improved to 22-8 overall and 9-1 in GSC play while the Cotton Blossoms dropped to 11-17 and 2-8.

 

Three Lady Bisons had double-digit kill numbers with Manuela Nesheva leading with 19. Shellie Rummer followed Nesheva with 14 kills, while Katelin Parks added 11. Samantha Anderson led the team with a .615 hitting percentage (9-1-13). Leah Tepe averaged 17.3 assists per game during the match (52 total) and Meredith Rosenbaum had 20 digs.

 

Harding had almost twice as many kills as the Cotton Blossoms (64-to-34) and had nine blocks. Arkansas-Monticello had 50 digs and 5.5 blocks while hitting .121.

 

Nicole Ferguson and Kameshia Melton had 10 kills each for UAM and Stephanie Hatten added 10 digs.

 

Harding will step out of conference play for a match against Texas A&M-Commerce on Sat., Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons return to GSC action Tues., Oct. 30 against Henderson State at 7 p.m. Henderson State and Harding remain tied for first as the GSC Tournament approaches.
