MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Harding defeated the West Alabama Tigers on Saturday afternoon in overtime with a score of 98-92. The Lady Bisons improved to 2-0 while West Alabama fell to 0-2. Harding freshman Lakyn Garrison led the team with flying colors, totaling 22 points and five assists.
Kelsea Lyda also had another stellar contest with 20 points for the Lady Bisons. Stacey Owens topped two of her career records with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Kinsey Tucker, for the second straight game, had 11 points and three steals.
Harding made 52.2 percent (36-69) of its shots from the field and was 13-of-19 from the free-throw line.
Jessica Thompson ran the show for the Tigers, adding up 41 points. West Alabama shot 44.3 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Lady Bisons 42-to-39.
Harding's bench scored 45 points for the Lady Bisons while West Alabama's bench scored two points.
Harding's last overtime victory was on the same date (Nov. 17) of last season. The Lady Bisons defeated North Alabama, 106-98.
The Lady Bisons host their first home-game of the season Monday, Nov. 19 against Central Baptist. The game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Rhodes Field House.
