Nesheva Totals 31 Kills in Harding's Last Regular-Season Match

SEARCY, Ark. – The Lady Bisons ended regular-season play Friday night with a 3-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist. Harding sophomore Manuela Nesheva stood apart from the pack with 31 kills and a .424 attack percentage in the four-game match. Harding's senior night ended with game scores of 30-27, 28-30, 30-23, and 30-26. The Lady Bisons improved to 25-8 overall and closed out Gulf South Conference play with an 11-1 record. The Lady Tigers dropped to 14-22 overall and 5-7 in conference action.

 

Harding hit .264 on the night with 71 kills. The Lady Bisons also totaled 72 digs and 9.5 blocks. They were led by Nesheva and Shellie Rummer (10 kills) along with Leah Tepe with 58 assists and 11 digs. Freshman Emily Tate took over on defense with 17 digs. Meredith Rosenbaum added 16 digs and Katelin Parks totaled 12 digs and nine kills.

 

Ouachita Baptist had depth on offense with three players with double-digit kills – Breanne Garrett with 18, Meredith Henry with 14, and Kaitlyn Mitcham with 11. Brettney Cheatham managed 54 of OBU's 60 assists. The Lady Tigers hit .227 with 63 kills and had 10 blocks against the Lady Bisons.

 

The Lady Bisons take the court again next weekend in the Gulf South Conference Tournament hosted by Harding in the Rhodes Field House. Harding will play West Georgia on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. for the first round of the tournament.
