CANYON, Texas – The Lady Bisons suffered their first loss Friday night at the West Texas A&M Tournament. Angelo State defeated Harding, 74-70 and improved to 2-1 while the Lady Bisons fell to 3-1. The main difference in the two teams' performances was in rebounding. Angelo State grabbed 50 to Harding's 38.

 

Both teams struggled from the foul line hitting 57.1 percent each (12-21 for ASU, 8-14 for HU). The Lady Bisons made 41.8 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from behind the arc.

 

Harding's Catherine McMenamy, a native of Canyon, Texas, led the team with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. The junior guard also added three steals. Freshman Lakyn Garrison kept up her trend with 16 points, three rebounds and assists, and two blocks and steals.

 

Nichelle Parks had a game-high 22 points for the Belles and also led with 11 rebounds. Kandra Lakey added 15 points for Angelo State.

 

Harding will play the tournament host West Texas A&M tomorrow (Nov. 24) at 6 p.m. in Canyon, Texas.
