SEARCY - Senior Kinsey Tucker and junior Catherine McMenamy each scored 18 points to lead the Harding Lady Bisons to a 87-61 victory over the Alabama-Huntsville Lady Chargers at Rhodes Field House on Saturday night to conclude the Harding Classic.
Both the Lady Bisons and Lady Chargers entered Friday with big victories on the first day of the Classic. Harding (5-2) had defeated York 95-48, and Alabama-Huntsville (3-3), a member of the Gulf South Conference, picked up an 86-43 victory over Ouachita Baptist.
Tucker hit a three-pointer to give the Lady Bisons the lead 6-3 three minutes into the first half, and Harding continued to build its lead for the remainder of the game.
Alabama-Huntsville's Kristen Banes completed a three-point play to cut Harding's lead to 10 points at 31-21 with 4:22 left in the first half, but the Lady Bisons cruised on an 11-0 run and led at halftime 42-28.
Harding connected on 19-of-36 shots from the floor (52.8 percent) in the second half while the Lady Chargers struggled, hitting 12-of-33 shots. The Lady Bisons hit 49.3 percent (33-for-67) of its field goals for the game.
Harding outscored Alabama-Huntsville in the lane 40-28.
Harding freshman Lakyn Garrison, who has scored 15.5 points a game, scored 16 points and led the team with seven assists.
Tonya McKinney led the Lady Chargers with 23 points and five assists.
The Lady Bisons will travel to Houston this weekend to face Texas A&M International on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Houston Baptist on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
