Bisons Drop One to UAM

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The Bison baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday afternoon to Arkansas-Monticello in a non-conference match-up. Harding gave up nine hits and committed four errors in a 6-2 loss.

The Bisons struggled at the plate for the first eight innings, scoring both runs in the top of the ninth. The Boll Weevils scored four runs in the fourth off Harding freshman Brodie Brumley and two in the fifth off reliever Michael Skinner. Daniel Morgan pitched the last two innings for the Bisons, allowing only one hit and striking out two batters.

Harding's Bo Whitaker garnered a team-high two hits, while Randall Hunt and Wisley Correa came off the bench to bat in Harding's two runs.

UAM managed nine hits in the game and two errors. Boll Weevil pitcher Colter Zoch pitched the first six innings and claimed the win. Zoch struck out eight Bisons and walked two.

The Bisons face Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo., on February 10 for a doubleheader. The games are slated to begin at noon.
