Bisons Win Two Against Crichton

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Bisons grabbed two wins against Crichton Tuesday afternoon at the USA Stadium. Harding won the first game, 5-3 and was ahead in the second game, 5-2 in the sixth inning (top of the sixth with one out) when the game was called on account of rain. The Bisons improved to 22-13, with one more win than in all of the 2006 season. Crichton fell to 18-14 with the two losses.

 

Harding centerfielder Adam Darby was 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and Zach Fisher had two hits and scored twice. Brodie Brumley (3-1) took the win for the Bisons while Aaron Davidson claimed his eighth save this season. The feat ties Davidson for Harding's single season record. Davidson is only four saves short of the Gulf South Conference single season record.

 

The Comets managed eight hits in the first game. Catcher Joe Melton tallied three to lead the team. Paul Gipson (2-3) started the game for Crichton and took the loss. Gipson pitched five and a third innings and gave up four runs, all earned. The Comet pitching staff struck out only one Bison batter in each of the games.

 

The Bisons out-hit the Comets 8-to-4 in game two with eight singles, all by different batters. Darby and Fisher had an RBI each in the second game. Jeff Davis (4-1) earned the win in relief for the Bisons. Gilbert Tellez pitched the first two and two-thirds innnings and allowed two runs, one earned.

 

Crichton second baseman Preston Burleson had a team-high two hits in the second game. Marty Robinson (2-1) suffered the loss for the Comets.

 

The Bisons will return to Gulf South Conference action this weekend at Delta State with a doubleheader on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Cleveland, Miss. The single game on Sunday is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
