Bisons Defeat Ozarks in 10th Inning

SEARCY, Ark. – The College of the Ozarks (Mo.) baseball team pushed Harding into extra innings Friday night at Jerry Moore Field but Harding pushed back and defeated the Bobcats, 7-6 in the bottom of the 10th inning. The Bisons improved to 16-7 overall and the Bobcats dropped to 11-7.

 

Harding totaled a season-high 12 hits in the win over Ozarks with the most important hit coming in the bottom of the last inning. The Bobcats brought in Guy Wierman (1-2) to the mound and he promptly walked Randall Hunt, Harding's lead-off batter. Dare Saul reached on an error by Ozarks' third baseman, their eighth error of the game. With Saul on first and Hunt on second, Adam Darby stepped up, lined a single through the left side and scored Hunt for the win.

 

The win was Harding's ninth one-run victory this season. Daniel Morgan (2-0) pitched the last two innings for the Bisons and took the win. Michael Skinner pitched the first five and a third, striking out five batters. Jeff Davis worked the mound in between for two and 2/3 innings.

 

Ryan Moody led the game with three hits while Darby led the team with two RBI.

 

The Bobcats had 11 hits in the game. Harding committed four errors.

 

The Bisons will continue their homestand tomorrow (Saturday) with a doubleheader (9/7) against Ozarks at noon at Jerry Moore Field.
