Volleyball Opens with Two Wins

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lady Bison volleyball team started its season in perfect form Fri. at the Christian Brothers Tournament. Harding defeated both Missouri-Rolla and Armstrong Atlantic in three games each.
 
Game scores against UMR were 30-19, 30-15, 30-13. Harding defeated AASU 30-14, 30-21, 30-15.
 
Sophomore Manuela Nesheva stepped up the Lady Bisons' performance with a combined 31 kills in the two matches (12, 19) and a .579 hitting percentage in the first match. Senior Katelin Parks trailed with 11 and 18 kills in the respective games.
 
Harding had only 10 hitting errors in the first match and 14 in the second. The Lady Bisons hit over .400 in four of the six games. Leah Tepe directed the offense with 39 assists in the first match and 45 against Armstrong Atlantic.
 
Neither opponent hit over .150 for their respective matches. Maddie Owak led the Lady Miners with six kills and Leah Kettleson topped Armstrong Atlantic with eight.
 
Meredith Rosenbaum defended the back line with 20 digs on the day for Harding.
 
The Lady Bisons will continue play at the Christian Brothers Tournament Sat. with games at noon and 4 p.m.
