MONTEVALLO, ALA. - Montevallo senior forward Glenn Murphy scored a pair of goals to lift the Falcons to a 2-0 victory over Harding in both teams' Gulf South Conference opener Friday.
Montevallo (8-1-1, 1-0 GSC) took a 1-0 lead on a Murphy penalty kick in the second minute. Murphy added his second of the game and fifth of the seasno in the 81st minute on an assist from junior forward Jonathan Maloney.
Harding (3-7-0, 0-1 GSC) remained winless on the road this season, moving to 0-7-0 away from Searcy. The Bisons had six shots in the game with junior Carter Truax and freshman Gabe Alexander each shooting twice.
Harding returns to the pitch Sunday, meeting West Florida in Pensacola.
