SEARCY, Ark. – The Bison baseball team cracked a five-game losing streak with two victories over Missouri Western State on Tuesday afternoon. Harding won the first game, 2-1 and the second game, 9-3 to bring its record to 13-10 overall. The Griffons fell to 3-8 overall.
As a team, the Bisons almost doubled the number of hits made by the Griffons with 10 hits in game one and nine in the second game. MWSU had five in each game. Harding started out with one run in the first inning of the first game and a run in the second inning of the second game and never lost the lead in either game.
The Bisons went the whole day without an error while Missouri Western tallied two on the day.
Troy Keith (2-1) and Gilbert Tellez (2-1) took the wins for the Bisons, respectively. Keith pitched five and a third innings and struck out four batters. Tellez pitched three innings and allowed no runs. Shane Bishop and Dakota Gardner earned saves for Harding.
The losses went to A.J. Huttonlocker and Drew Mannen from Missouri Western.
Harding's Bo Whitaker had a single, double, and a triple in game one while Aaron Roberts led the Bisons with four RBI on the day. Matt Stevens hit his fourth home run of the season in game two.
Harding will begin Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.
