MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Bison baseball team ended the weekend series with #8 Southern Arkansas on Sunday with a 12-6 loss. The Bisons were ahead 6-5 after four innings but stalled, allowing SAU to go ahead. Harding fell to 13-13 overall and 0-3 in Gulf South Conference play while the Muleriders improved to 21-3 and 3-1 in the GSC.
Southern Arkansas had 15 hits and no errors while the Bisons struggled at the plate with only five hits and had a difficult time in the field with three errors.
The leftfielder for the Muleriders, Zane Williams had two home runs in the game and led with two hits and three RBI. Five Bisons had one hit each with Aaron Roberts knocking in two runs on his double.
Jeremy Jenkins (4-1) finished the game for the Muleriders and earned the win. Jenkins pitched five and a third innings and struck out four batters, allowing no runs. Gilbert Tellez (2-2) took the loss for the Bisons. Tellez struck out three batters and pitched the third through the seventh innings.
Harding steps out of conference play for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 18 against Ecclesia at 1 p.m. The game will be held at Jerry Moore Field in Searcy.
